Fresh Flower Care & Tips
Our bulk wholesale fresh flowers arrive to you within forty eight hours of being cut at the farm. The flowers arrive just like a flower shop would receive them and need a little care and handling. The fresh flowers arrive in a semi-close stage; we suggest scheduling delivery of your fresh flowers 48 hours before the event. Allow time for the flowers to fully bloom and preparation. Have the following items ready: sharp knife and a few empty containers. Five gallon buckets or small bins work best.
Start by filling the containers to the desired level with cool water and add the flower food packets included in your order.
Remove bundles from box, cut the rubber band at the bottom of the stem. Keep the protective wrap around the rose blooms. This will insure the rose necks do not bend over while the roses hydrate in water.
Using a knife, remove the leaves and thorns that will sit below the water line. Leaves left below the water line will create bacteria, bad smell and shorten the life of fresh flowers.
Fill the sink with water and while under water diagonally cut one inch off the stems. Place flower bundle in water container immediately to prevent air pockets.
Allow your flower/ roses a minimum of four hours to hydrate before removing the bloom wrappers.
After removing the wrap, you may need to remove the first couple of petals. These petals are called Guard Petals and may appear dark tip or discolored. These petals are left on by the farmer to protect the inner rose.
If flower preparation need to be prolong, place a couple of ice packs inside the box and tape the seams to insulate. Keep box in a cool place.
