Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival Plain Aluminum Doubloon.
The obverse features the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival Logo.
The  reverse features
the State of Louisiana Designed Like a Strawberry with a Strawberry Blossom Designating Ponchatoula
and reads
"PONCHATOULA STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL...STRAWBERRY PARADISE...APRIL 11 - 13, 2014."
The
doubloon measures 39 mm or 1 1/2" in diameter and is in
Excellent Condition.
Note:  Ponchatoula is the Strawberry Capital of Louisiana.  Our small town's population grows significantly to around 300,000 during the annual Strawberry Festival.  This very family oriented Festival has something for everyone and grows in size every year.  It starts each April on a Friday afternoon and ends on Sunday afternoon at 6 PM.  This two and a half day festival is Louisiana's Second Largest Festival, second only to the two week long New Orleans Jazz Festival.  The doubloons are tossed to eager parade spectators during the Strawberry Festival Parade held on the Saturday morning of Strawberry Fest Weekend.  Unless specifically described as 'Toning,' the Gold, Green and Purple hues on a doubloon's surfaces are the reflection of a Mardi Gras Banner which hangs above my desk.
