Description
Handsome large-format fold-out 1966 Conoco road map of Houston, printed more than 54 years ago.The map opens to a generous 27" x 38" and has great detail on old street and highway alignments, with cartography by H.M. Gousha.
The coverage area includes Bunker Hill, Bellaire, Pasadena, Galena Park, Hunters Creek, Jacinto City, and West University Place.
On the reverse side there's a map of the approaches to Houston's Astrodome, then known as the Harris County Domed Stadium, locating the Astros Practice Stadium and Playland Park Speedway. There are inset plans of central Houston and Galveston.
The map was distributed by the Continental Oil Company in 1966 and is dated in the legend. The code number in the lower margin is NN-2.
There's a Conoco branding iron and the slogan "Ride The Hot One...Hottest Brand Going" on the back cover.
